Interim IT Director
26/03/2008
When the IT Director of this UK subsidiary of a market leader in the global document industry suddenly departed, they needed to fill the role urgently.
Someone had to take responsibility for managing 12 technical project managers, each responsible for supporting multi-million pound projects, and the recruitment of a successor. Alium was asked to provide an experienced interim management professional to work at this senior level, and shortly after our interim was appointed, the parent company imposed a recruitment freeze. The interim had already established his value and so was asked to stay on until the freeze was lifted and a successor could be found.
During his assignment, the interim management executive not only supported and line-managed the project managers, but also provided strategic technical direction around an internet/e-business programme, which required close integration within the operational IT systems.
By the time the freeze was lifted, our interim manager had helped scope the role for the incoming director of IT. The results saw a new director identified and appointed within just two months.
