Congratulations to Alium interim Gary Kimberley who was highly commended in the Interim Manager of the Year award.
Gary was recognised for his achievements at Random House Group, where he has spearheaded an innovation which ensures the business is setting a new benchmark for book distribution ser
In establishing the group’s new Publishing Services strand, Gary turned an opportunity into a commercial reality – an innovative start-up business venture with multi-million pound turnover potential.
The unprecedented range of added-value services is already attracting new clients to Random House, as well as reinvigorating its existing relationships.
“This was untested territory so we wanted the flexibility that an Interim would offer – not least, in case we needed to cut short the project. With Gary, we could access the relevant skill set and experience, fast,” said Justin Smith, finance and commercial director, Random House Distribution Division.
Charged with influencing internal audiences – not least the Board – to ‘buy into’ the innovation, he immediately signed up the first new clients.
“I thought the best way to convince people was to take the service to market and deliver results,” he explains.
Currently helping to recruit his permanent successor, Gary remains with Random House until next year.
